01 Is your Arizona Defensive Driving Course approved?
Yes. 24Hr Affordable Defensive Traffic School is approved to provide the Arizona Defensive Driving Course for eligible Arizona traffic citations.
02 What are the eligibility requirements?
Eligibility depends on your citation, driving history, applicable Arizona requirements, and any instructions issued by your court.
- You generally may not have attended defensive driving for citation diversion for an eligible violation occurring within the prior 12 months.
- Your current citation must contain an eligible violation.
- Defensive driving diversion may be used for only one eligible violation.
- A serious-injury or fatal collision is not eligible for defensive driving diversion.
- You must satisfy the applicable course-completion deadline established for your citation and court.
03 How often may I take defensive driving for ticket dismissal?
Arizona generally allows defensive driving diversion once every 12 months. Eligibility is determined based on the applicable violation dates and Arizona requirements.
04 Is the course completely online?
Yes. The course is available online and may be completed using a compatible internet-connected computer, tablet, or phone.
If your court specifically orders a different delivery method, follow the instructions provided directly by the court.

The Arizona Defensive Driving Course consists of 16 instructional units, with approximately 15 minutes assigned to each unit.
07 Is there a final exam?
Yes, there is an easy final exam. Students complete the required course materials and applicable course questions and quizzes.
08 What documents do I need to register?
Have the applicable registration information and documents available, including:
- A clear copy or photo of your government-issued identification or driver license.
- A clear copy or photo of your traffic citation.
- Any applicable court documentation or order.
- Payment for the applicable course and required fees.
09 Can a Commercial Driver License holder take defensive driving?
A Commercial Driver License holder may qualify in certain circumstances. Eligibility depends on the vehicle being driven, whether it was being used for commercial purposes, the citation, and all other applicable Arizona requirements.
Eligibility should be confirmed before beginning the course.
10 Do I have to appear in court?
In many defensive-driving diversion cases, successful course completion satisfies the applicable attendance requirement without a separate court appearance.
Always follow the instructions printed on your citation and any additional directions issued by your court.
11 Will I receive a Certificate of Completion?
Yes. After successfully completing the course, a Certificate of Completion is provided in accordance with the course completion process.
12 What happens to the points on my driving record?
When an eligible Arizona defensive driving diversion course is successfully completed and the eligible violation is dismissed, points are not assessed for that dismissed violation.
13 What if I have more than one violation on my citation?
Defensive driving diversion may be used for only one eligible violation. Other violations remain subject to the applicable court requirements.
